Memory Tricks for Study Tips

During this one-hour course, we’ll go beyond the typical study tips and discuss how knowing the basics about memory can improve studying. The course will include text information presented in Powerpoint with time for questions both during and after the material is presented. Students are encouraged to ask questions at anytime, including how the information can be directly applied to their studies. We’ll discuss topics such as short-term memory, long-term memory, techniques to promote both short and long-term memory (e.g., chunking and elaborative rehearsal), and what factors increase forgetting (and what to do about them).
