Memorize This! Make Memorizing Easy With Mnemonic Devices (ages 8-12)
In this class, learners will practice memorizing facts, sequences, and more using mnemonic devices. Memorization does not come easily to many, like me, but it can with mnemonic devices such as ROYGBIV for the colors of the rainbow.

Class Experience
Does your student struggle to memorize facts or the order of certain things like the planets or rainbow colors? If so, I have an easy way to make memorization easy and fun! In this course we will look at popular mnemonic devices such as ROYGBIV (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet) and Never Eat Sour Watermelon (North, East, South, West). Putting familiar words or funny phrases together helps remember things much easier! Once we have looked at popular mnemonic devices, we will...
Students will learn how to use mnemonic devices to memorize facts easier. The goal is to make memorizing fun and to create life-long skills to help with school work and beyond.
Homework is optional but may include practicing their mnemonic devices.
Learners may bring paper and a writing utensil to write down their mnemonic devices. They may also bring an already-prepared list of ideas of things they want to try to memorize.
Learning is assessed by listening to students recite their mnemonic devices and what each one stands for.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
