Average rating:4.9Number of reviews:(173)
Students will learn about what the ancient Egyptians ate and drank and how they obtained their food, including paying for it. We'll also visit a market in modern Egypt, very likely similar to an ancient Egyptian market ( but cleaner).

Class experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Follows Teacher-Created Curriculum
Students will learn:

1. How archaeologists know what the ancient Egyptians ate.
2. What we can tell from the remains of food examined. And - can we
    still eat them?
3. The role of experimental archaeology in studying ancient Egypt
4. The process of buying, selling and trading in ancient Egypt,
especially at the marketplace. How did people pay without actual
    money?
I hold a Diploma in Egyptology from Oxford College in England and a Certificate of Museum Studies from Harvard University. And I’ve been to Egypt three times on personalized, educational tours.

As a certified school substitute, I make the day more enjoyable - if it works out - by bringing an ancient Egyptian object into the classroom, whether I'm teaching language arts, social studies, science, consumer economics, art or even Native American studies.

I've been captivated by ancient Egypt since I was 10 years old. And I feel it's my destiny to share my enthusiasm for and expertise on this beautiful and brilliant 5000-year-old civilization with all of you. I hope to see you soon for a class. I think you'll agree that The Egyptian Room is an attractive, fun and inspiring place to learn. And, please, if you like, call me Ms. Sennuwy - my chosen ancient Egyptian name.

There is a fun pre-lesson quiz that I ask kids to download before class. At the beginning of the class, we go over it together. And then at the end, we go over the same quiz to see what the students remember.
