Meet the Teacher and Robbie the Reading Raccoon - You Can Read! Word Families: Blending, Reading, and Writing

In this fun and engaging class, children will learn to blend, read, write, and spell rhyming words using phonics, interactive slides, games, writing, and a story. Watch out for Robbie the Reading Raccoon. He might come and get into some mischief. There will be a new word family each week the class is offered.

Class Experience

My name is Ms. Heather! I am so excited to begin this journey with your child!  I know that when you are choosing a new teacher for your child you may have many questions about the teacher, their teaching style, and their personality, but most importantly you will want to know how well will this teacher meet my child's learning style and personality.  I have designed this class so you and your child can meet me and see if my teaching style and my class are a good match for your child.

Students will learn how to blend, spell, read, and write CVC words by engaging in fun and interactive activities.

I am a certified K-12 teacher and a Reading Specialist.  I have been teaching for over 20 years and my primary focus has been in  Language Arts for K-3.

Children can practice reading a short story from the class or use thehandouts that will be sent home after class.

I will be sending an attachment that will have the handouts for the week. I will also send home an after-class activity which may be flashcards, a printing page, or some sentences. It would be fantastic if you could please print out the handout for the class. If you cannot, please don't worry. We can use any piece if paper and we can even write the letters or words in the air.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
