Description

Class Experience

Each week students will be able to give some biographical information about the president we've learned about, understand where this presidents fits in American history, and articulate a few of their key ideas or accomplishments.
Former Deputy Director of the historic home of President Ronald Reagan where I worked with people first-hand who were speechwriters, advisors and aides to President Ronald Reagan, who gave one of the speeches listed in this class. 2002 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University with a bachelor of science degree in political science and history, with an emphasis on American history. Former Intercollegiate Studies Institute Honors Fellow. Trained by top experts in communications and speechwriting on the power of persuasion, including image coaches and communications consultants to presidential candidates. Author of the book Backdoor to the White House. Lifelong student of history.

We live in a big and fascinating world and one of my goals with my classes is to help kids develop an interest and appreciation for the world around them and different cultures. My classes draw from my own experiences as a world traveler. I've visited and lived abroad in twenty-two countries. I also have several years of experience in working with students as a teacher and mentor and look forward to having the opportunity to invest in the life of your learner. I love teaching but more than anything I love investing in the lives of young people and bringing them along on a journey.
No homework is required but students will have access to a weekly worksheet they can complete and use as a work sample, and will be pointed to additional resources for further study if desired.
Students should login to Nearpod before coming to class each week. No other learner supplies are necessary, although a weekly worksheet is provided for optional use.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
"Time to Climb" quiz at the end of each class.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We use an Outschool approved resource in this class called Nearpod. Nearpod allows students to see my slides, look at VR of places we are talking about in class, participate in polls and quizes, and participate in our TIme to Climb contest at the end of each class.
