US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
This fun and informative class will introduce students to a real life baby goat, named Oreo. The beginning of the class will include a quick introduction to Oreo and facts about goats. The teacher will discuss: - Appearance of goat (different type of goats, tail, hooves, horns, color, etc). - What the baby goat eats and how the diet changes as the goat grows, foragers and grazers. - Different jobs goats do on the farm; milk, weed control, pets, yoga friends, fertilizing fields and land management. The teacher will make time for questions as she introduces baby goat, Oreo to the class. In the final portion of the class, the student will play teacher created farm animal games with baby goat, Oreo. The teacher will also allow each student to talk to Oreo, share baby animal related stories, introduce baby goat, Oreo to their own pets, draw pictures of baby goats, read/sing to Oreo and ask additional questions about Oreo, goats or other farm animals. The teacher may incorporate goat/farm related songs, stories, and movement & drawing activities for students who prefer to observe & listen in order to make all learners feel comfortable and enjoy spending time with baby goat, Oreo. (In addition to being a former Elementary teacher, the teacher has owned and operated an organic hay/sheep/goat farm for over 8 years.) If you have a student older than the age limit, who would like to meet baby goat, Oreo, please feel free to request a session and I will happily create a class in the appropriate age range for your student pending availability. If you have multiple learners and some are outside the age limit, I would be happy to set up a private class (pending availability) so all the learners at home can meet Oreo.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about goats and farm animals by engaging with a live baby goat. They will have an opportunity to practice social skills; such as taking turns, asking questions, and being good listeners.
