What's included

30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Does your child enjoy crafts and Christmas? In this personalized, one-time class, Mrs. Claus herself will use an old family recipe to teach your child how to make and decorate cinnamon ornaments! This is more than a crafts class; it's a magical experience! Parents will send information before class so Mrs. Claus can interact with each child personally. Your child will be amazed to learn that Mrs. Claus knows about family members, beloved pets, favorite toys, Christmas wishes, and more! When you enroll, you will receive a welcome email with a set of questions. Please look for this important email and respond as soon as possible for the most magical experience! Ideally, the email should be answered no later than 2 hours before class, but it's never too late! Age range is flexible! Christmas-loving children of all ages are welcome! CLASS DETAILS We will: - Make our cinnamon dough - Roll out the dough - Cut shapes - Poke holes for hanging - Start *baking the ornaments or letting them air dry *Parents/caregivers will finish baking after class. The ornaments will bake for 2 1/2 hours at 200°F; alternatively, they can air dry for 1-2 days. Mrs. Claus has many magical tips for making the process less messy, as well as for rolling out the dough out evenly! Throughout each class, we will sing songs and talk about Christmas. Mrs. Claus always makes sure that everyone gets an opportunity to speak! And, of course, Mrs. Claus will talk to each child individually based on her magical knowledge! Outside the class, the students will decorate the dried ornaments with the guidance of parents/caregivers. Mrs. Claus will provide instructions for painting and embellishing the ornaments after they dry, as well as for adding a loop for hanging. (For the most vibrant colors, she recommends acrylic craft paint. However, this stains, so learners will need a smock, apron, or old, oversized shirt.) These cinnamon ornaments will make your entire home smell amazing (especially if you bake them)! I (Teacher Laura) have ornaments I made in the 1980's that still smell "cinnamon-y"!

Parental Guidance
SUPERVISION REQUIRED: Learners will need to be supervised at all times. Children should not try to eat the dry cinnamon; it's possible that they could gag, cough, and possibly inhale it. The dough, though made of common food items, is not meant to be eaten. It smells so good that young children may be tempted to eat it and may gag or choke. (The flavor is very strong.) Also, young children must be supervised while using the drinking straw.
SAFETY NOTE: It is recommended that only adults take baking sheets/pans in and out of the oven. If your child wants to feel included on this step, you could place the pan on the rack, then your child could wear a long oven mitt and use a stick like this to push the pan into the oven: https://www.amazon.com/Fox-Run-9120-Kitchen-Ruler/dp/B000BRNF7M/ (Do NOT use the stick to remove pan from oven. Again, only an adult should remove pans from the oven.) Alternatively, you could let the ornaments air dry.
