Join Quintus Dannicus, Centurian in the 20th Legion, Legio XX Valeria Victrix, for a visit to the Roman Empire! Dannicus will tell students all about Roman society and life in the legions, thier arms and armor, and the daily life of a Roman Legionary on campaign in a fun and engaging conversation with a living historical character. We will discuss the various jobs and responsibilities within the Roman Military, what it was like to campaign in the far reaches of the Empire, the myths and stories the Romans told about their history, and look at some of the clothing, armor, weapons, and other items a legionary would own and use every day. Learners are encouraged to ask questions and interact with the goal of organically covering whatever burning curiosities are on your learners minds about Romans and the world they lived in.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the daily life of a Roman Legionary at the height of the Empire through conversation with a Living History character

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been sword fighting professionally for 7 years as an instructor, entertainer, and educator. I studied History at Southern New Hampshire University, and have performed on stage, film, tv, and in person all over the country!
As an educator I have brought History and Swordsmanship lessons to schools, after school programs, summer camps, and libraries; I have taught children and adults both Historical Swordsmanship and Olympic Fencing, and my unique blend of history and entertainment is based on the idea of Experimental Archaeology... its best to learn by doing!
