Class experience
Students will use their imaginations to go on a birdwatching adventure, exploring photos and videos of the "Mimus polyglottos." Led by a real-life birder and illustrator, Mylo, they will be guided to explore the behaviors and environments of this special bird. By imagining a mockingbird's habitat, students will gain an understanding of what these animals need to survive. Students will learn about the behaviors and environments of these birds while working on drawing/illustration skills. They will also explore advocacy and conservation in the environments the birds inhabit.
Mylo is an amateur birder with an MFA in studio art. They have 6+ years of experience as an educator in formal academic settings.
Drawing Paper or sketchbook Pencil and Eraser Materials to add color (pencils, crayons, markers, etc.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
