50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Class will begin with a simple description and introduction to mandalas. The class will be taught through a step-by-step method however, each mandala will be unique in size, shape, design and color. Students will be invited (but not required) to share their process and or finished work. Mandalas are not only beautiful and fun to create but they have been shown in clinical studies to provide many health benefits which include reducing stress and creating a sense of harmony. Although this is a one time class, I will be creating a unique mandal in each class. Learners are invited to join this class as often as they wish. They may follow along or simply create a new mandala with the inspiration provided. There are no prerequisites for this course.
Learning Goals
Students will be introduced to the vocabulary and principles of art terms that are involved in creating mandalas. These include concentric circles, radial symmetry, shapes, line variation, unity and color schemes. They will also experience how mandala making assists in the meditative quality of being present and balanced.
