What's included
4 live meetings
4 in-class hoursClass Experience
We will explore what meditation is and how we can practice meditation to cultivate focus and calm. First we will define meditation, then we will practice meditating. Week 1: Focus on the breath and an intention. Week 2: Focus on feeling steady and sturdy. Week 3: Focus on calm and spreading calm. Week 4: Focus on creating calm in the body and mind. Each class will offer 2 different meditation techniques and include descriptions of the techniques, explanations of the benefits of each type of meditation, time to meditate and time to ask questions and discuss learner’s experiences of the meditations. This is a creative process of directing attention to produce specific outcomes. Learners will be encouraged to approach the practice of meditation with an open mind and zero expectations. Everyone will be supported in a non-judgmental way. No experience or familiarity with meditation is required as this is a course for beginners.
Learning Goals
Students will learn 8 different meditation techniques, when to use them and why.
