This history/science class will cover the topics of medieval alchemy, science, and history during the Middle Ages period from the late 400s CE through to the 1400s. The class has been divided into two thirty-minute sections: A. Class 1: will be a simple introduction to the history of medieval alchemy and how it was used during this period. B. Class 2: during this section, we will create our own alchemy by making various “potions.” The students will choose what potions they would like to make during the end of Class 1 and then a supply list will be posted in the classroom for those who wish to participate at home. The potions are designed to mimic alchemy recipes from history. Our selection of potions and activities can include: Transfiguration through color changing slime, making our own lava lamp, or a bubbling potion bottle. For the history portion of the class, I will be giving a short lecture with a power point. The students are welcome to join in with discussing the topic.
Learning Goals
The goal is for students to participate in the class and have some fun while learning history.
