I’ve been teaching at co-ops in my area for the last three years, and the same classes over zoom to students all over the world in my Facebook group for the same amount of time to much success (and good times!)!
Possibly a pen and paper for writing down questions to ask in our Q&A time!
We’ll talk about amputations on the battlefield in the American Civil War as well as look at pictures taken of the survivors of this practice years later. None of the photos are particularly graphic, but some of the information about amputation procedures may be a lot for children with weak stomachs.
I utilize many books and websites when researching and cross referencing my classes. In this particular class I used books Civil War Medicine by C. Keith Wilbur, An Army Nurse in the Civil War by Adelaide W. Smith, The Practice of Civil War Medicine and Surgery by Bruce Allen Evans M.D., and Revolutionary War Medicine also written by C. Keith Wilbur. Websites I often use to research are History.com, Britannica.com, and Smithsonian.com.
