Description
Class Experience
Students will learn how to prepare meatless meals and will work hands-on to complete a full meal each class session. Student will also learn about plant-based cooking, as well as other kitchen skills, and have fun doing it!
Felicia Slattery is an award-winning home cook who began her adventures in the kitchen at a young age. In high school she took every cooking class offered, worked in restaurants through high school and college (and beyond), and is now a popular food blogger and holds a visual storyteller badge in a plant-based eating for health Facebook group, where she regularly helps others discover plant-based recipes.
Students may want to measure some ingredients prior to the beginning of class, but the teacher will be demonstrating proper chopping, cutting, and measuring techniques during the sessions as well. Homework will including printing and reading the session's recipe through once before class, doing any required ingredient prep prior to class, cleaning up the kitchen after class, and enjoying the food prepared during class.
As for special equipment, it will be helpful to have a high powered blender; for those who do not have a high-powered blender, any blender or food processor will work fine and instructions will be provided for necessary prep in advance of class. Beyond that, you should have the basics to include mixing bowls, baking pan, casserole dish, either cast iron or non-stick skillet, measuring cups and spoons, rubber spatula, chef's knife, cutting board, etc. Weekly ingredient and shopping lists will be provided as the class progresses.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
We will be using knives and kitchen equipment such as blenders and food processors with sharp blades, plus cooking on the stove and in the oven. Safety techniques will be discussed.

About Me
Hello Students and Parents! I think I was born to be a teacher. When I was a little girl, my favorite game was "school," and I loved to play it, but only if I could be the teacher! Almost everything I have done in my life I ended up teaching in...
