Class Experience

I am a mom of three and an ESE teacher. My Bachelors degree is in Special Education and I have over 12 years of experience teaching children in Preschool and First grade. I also have been working as an online teacher for two years now - ESL.
I have a Culinary degree after taking a small detour from teaching. I graduated with outstanding culinary achievement. Worked on restaurants and had my own baking business before returning to teaching.

I believe in creating a relationship with each student and making each class fun to create a better learning experience.
Learners will be able to follow all recipes step-by-step, learn how to measure wet and dry ingredients, how to setup a “mise en place”. Learners will also gain confidence and independence for cooking any food and feel comfortable in and around the kitchen. Learners will learn simple handling or utensils (knives, spatulas, etc.). Learners will also learn how important it is to keep our cooking are clean and clear as we cook. (This class will not provide instruction on how to wash the items we used but learn the importance of keeping the kitchen neatly as we cook.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Recipes are simple and easy to follow, however parents/caregivers should remain near to supervise the use of kitchen tools and equipment (microwave, oven, stove, knives, toaster, blender, etc.). When you enroll in this class, you accept full responsibility for your learner's safety. It is recommended that a responsible adult is in the same room as the learner (Outschool policy is that adults must remain off camera) and ready to step in to help if necessary. Learners will chop ingredients and use knives for food preparation. Please be aware that sometimes sharper knives can be safer than blunt knives for chopping, as less force is necessary, and they are less likely to slip or bounce off the food. Some recipes will require the use of food mixers. Some recipes will use the microwave, or stove, to melt or heat ingredients and some will need putting into and taking out of the oven to cook. Adult supervision of all kitchen equipment and hot ingredients is recommended.
