This is an ongoing course that will allow students to create their own Google documents for a specific course project. Throughout this course, students will be given in-class assignments to apply the skills they have obtained, as well as their ability to complete the tasks, showing mastery. At the end of the course, these assignments will be presented as the “final project”, which will summarize the students’ learning and ability to use Google applications. This will be a student-chosen project and will be completed during class time. Examples include: a grand opening for a retail business; a health or school fair; a wedding or birthday celebration; an important sporting event; a family reunion; a concert or a fashion show; or other approved projects.Class Experience
In this 8-week course, students will learn how to create a Google account & will access, organize, utilize & create using Google Email, Calendar, Maps, and Google Drive; including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, & Forms. Here is our Class Layout Week-by-Week: Week 1: Class 1: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Log in & Create a google account 2. Explore Google & Overview of the different applications available 3. Set up, access, & open Google Email Account 4. Send & open emails through Google email account 5. Set up folders within their Google email account Class 2: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Compose an email in Google 2. Header Lines: To (difference between Cc & Bcc), Subject, Body of email 3. Setting the Signature line 4. Modifying fonts & text formatting in Google email 5. Project Introduction Week 2: Class 3: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Google Calendar Introduction 2. Create an Event & a Reminder in Calendar: set date, times, location, description, add notifications, Set up a repeating event-Our Class times/dates 3. Link Calendar 4. From Google Email, go into an email & ‘Add task’ to your calendar 5. Project Proposal Reminder-due next class Class 4: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Google Drive Introduction & Overview of Applications available 2. Google Docs Intro & Overview 3. Searching & Using Templates in Google Docs 4. Toolbar tools, Page Setup & fonts 5. Google Sheets Introduction & Overview (reasons/ways to use it) 2. Using templates & Creating New 3. Review Toolbar & learn new tools for Sheets 4. Format: Text, Columns, Rows 5. In-Class Assignment: Create a simple Sheet 6. Remaining time will be used for project-based assignments Class 8: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Google Sheets-Insert: Columns, Rows, Cells, Charts, 2. Functions (for easy math calculations & more) 3. Add a New Sheet, Rename, Change Color, & Duplicate 4. 2nd Project-based, in-class Assignment Week 5: Class 9: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Google Slides Introduction & Overview 2. Using templates in Slides & Creating New 3. Toolbar tools 4. Formatting Options 5. In-Class Assignment Using Template 6. Remaining time will be used for project-based assignments Class 10: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Arranging Options: size & rotation, position, reflection, etc. 2. Backgrounds & Layout Options 3. Themes & Transitions 4. Inserting Text, Graphics, & Links 5. 3rd Project-based, in-class Assignment Week 6: Class 11: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Google Forms Introduction & Overview 2. Title Form 3. Create Questions: multiple-choice, short answer, paragraph 4. Adding checkboxes or dropdown menus & additional sections 5. Add & Import Questions 6. In-class Assignment using Template 7. Remaining time will be used for project-based assignments Class 12: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Google Forms-Setting a Theme, color, background, font & other tools 2. Uploading an Image 3. Importing Video or Photographs 4. 4th Project-based, in-class Assignment Week 7: Class 13: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Google Forms Settings: collect email addresses, limit responses, giving permissions for edit & summary charts 2. Showing progress bar, shuffling questions 3. Adding Collaborators 4. Setting up Quiz using Forms 5. In-class Assignment-Create a Google Drive Quiz with 5 questions 6. Additional in-class time given to complete Project-based activities Class 14: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Google Maps Introduction & Overview 2. Different Views: street, satellite & terrain 3. Set Notifications 4. Location Sharing Options 5. Places you have visited 6. Timeline 7. Globe 8. Explore on Maps as a class 9. In-class Assignment-Enter Home Address into Maps 10. 5th Project-based, in-class Assignment Week 8: Class 15: Learning Goals: The students will learn: 1. Zoom Features 2. Traffic, buses, bicycles, etc. 3. Share or Embed a map 4. Add a Missing Place (with business hours, business info and such) 5. Contributions to Map: Review, Photos, Edits 6. Enter something missing on maps (your home, friend’s home, business, etc.) 7. 6th Project-based, in-class Assignment Class 16: Learning Goal: The students will learn: 1. Project Presentations 2. Class Questionnaire & Share-Out: Your favorite part of Google, Your favorite part of the classroom, and what do you want to learn next? We will begin with an introduction to Google and then dive into the applications Google offers. Students will gain the ability to utilize Google and feel comfortable with how to create within Google Drive, whether for school, business, or personal purposes. Each class we will be covering Google tools and applications, including: Email, Calendar, Maps, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms & more. Students will learn all the basics for these apps, including the tools and how to utilize them when creating. During each class, the student will have time and opportunity given to use what we learned to create documents, emails, games, flyers, and so much more! For this course, I will use a combination of teaching styles including demonstration and hands-on practice, centered around the learner, their needs, and abilities. There will also be time for asking and answering questions, in which, students will be encouraged to try and answer questions for their classmates (if they are able), which will further engage them in the learning process. No prior knowledge is needed, however, students will be typing several things into the various Google applications, so a basic ability to type is helpful.
Learning Goals
The students will learn how to: Create a google account, Access & Organize their Google Email Account; Access & Utilize Google Calendar; Access & Utilize Google Drive, including learning how to create with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms and Maps; and students will learn the various tools used when creating within each of these different applications.

Parental Guidance
Students will need to have their videos on during class.
Any YouTube or other tech videos referenced will be linked in the Outschool Classroom, along with Teacher-Created videos.
Google Drive will be used and referenced throughout this class, links will be made available in the Outschool Class.

Please note: Although any device is acceptable and can be used in this course, the learner may find it much easier if using a desktop or laptop computer with a mouse, as we will be learning to create in Google & utilizing various tools, drop-down menus & more while also having the Zoom classroom open & following along with the teacher.
