Homework
1 hour per week. Students should complete at least one activity from each section per week. Activities will vary in length and type; and, may require the support of an adult for planning and execution purposes.Class Experience
This course is adapted from the nine week version to make it perfect for busy schedules! This class is aimed to help students not only dive into the characteristics associated with ADHD; but, also learn how to thrive with the qualities that make them uniquely them. In this class, students will be exposed to a variety of activities that they can explore, and then add to their personal toolbox of strategies. Each week, the teacher will be post in the classroom with material applicable to the topic of the week. In most cases, students will then take a weekly self-assessment and pick the activity that works best for them to complete as "homework". (Homework may require the support of an adult for planning and execution purposes. The goal of homework activities is to develop realistic approaches towards attainable results.) Students are not required; but, encouraged to communicate with class peers and teacher on a weekly basis. Students may share what strategy they are picking, why s/he picked it, and the results when they tried it. Ultimately, students will learn to recognize their strengths and how to optimize them for success in their daily lives. *Required Resource for Participation: "Thriving with ADHD Workbook for Kids: 60 Fun Activities to Help Children Self-Regulate, Focus, and Succeed (Health and Wellness Workbooks for Kids)" Miller, Kelli.
