Class Experience

Students will be able to describe...
1. the role of nutrients in providing fuel for sport performance
2. how to prevent injuries to muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones
3. how they will apply sport nutrition and injury prevention into their own training regimen
Dr. Sidwell's background includes a PhD in Kinesiology (Physical Education Teacher Education) and fitness specialist credentials. She was an Assistant Director at a ski school, in which she taught a range of skiers from beginner downhill skiing lessons all the way through racing classes. In her spare time, she is a member of a flat-water kayaking group.
Homework is optional, but students will be encouraged to submit a description of how the section's key concepts relate to their own sport performance.
Curriculum materials provided by the instructor will include PowerPoint files on Sports Nutrition and Injury Prevention. There will not be any material that must be purchased.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
If the learner submits homework, it will be evaluated with descriptive feedback that is tailored to each student and each student's individual response. There will not be a letter grade or numeric score associated with the submission.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
