Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 3
This is a Y3 Maths club to act as an aid for those studying the Year 3 British syllabus. Lessons will not build upon any previous lesson and learners can feel free to subscribe/ unsubscribe from the lessons at any time. Club weekly schedule will be updated every 4 weeks.

All weeks will include a starter activity where students will practise questions from below a Y3 level, questions at a Y3 level and questions above a Y3 level. This will last roughly 20-25 minutes. During the starter activity, I will give individualised help for learners stuck on particular questions and note areas of weakness.

Following the starter activity, we will focus on a topic from the Y3 syllabus (see topics planned below). I will give short a demonstration of the topic and then allow students to attempt questions themselves. This will last 20-25 minutes.

In the next 4 weeks (06/11/2023-27/11/2023), we will:
⇢ Week of (06/11/2023): practise telling the time on an analogue clock to the nearest 5 minutes;
⇢ Week of (13/11/2023): read and write numbers up to 1000 in numerals and in words; write numbers up to 1000 in parts;
⇢ Week of (20/11/2023): be on holiday (no lesson scheduled - no subscription charge will be made);
⇢ Week of (27/11/2023): learn how to estimate answers to calculations and use inverse operations to check answers.

For the final 5-15 minutes of each class, we will attempt, as a class, a fun, but engaging activity such as a wordsearch, a hidden picture game or a quiz.

For the best experience, please ensure your child brings a working pen, several sheets of paper, a functional microphone and a working webcam.

Before joining the class, it is best to ensure that your child's microphone is not too loud or too silent.

Please ensure that you child knows that, within view of their webcam, they can raise their hand if they need help.

Some classroom activities may require the use of Zoom features: 'Annotation' and 'Chat'. Instructions on how to use these features can be found on the internet.
