Description
Class Experience
Students will learn all the mathematical skills they need in line with government guidance for primary years 3 and 4 (UK)
I have delivered maths to all age groups from primary school children (KS1 and KS2) and adults (Functional Skills Maths) for over 30 years. I have spent many years leading interventions (group work) for primary children who were at risk of falling behind in their learning. Making the classes fun helps children to learn, even the most reluctant learners. I understand that for some children, 'doing maths' is a frightening thing - fear of failure can make a child not want to try - I regularly 'make mistakes' in class to show the children that getting things wrong is fine! If they can see that adults get things wrong (and can laugh at their errors) it becomes a safe space for them.
Complete and upload worksheets begun in class.
Learners will need squared math paper, pencil, colouring pencils, counters (for visualisation), erasers, and a ruler. This list is not exhaustive and you will be advised in advance should anything else be required. Learners will also need printouts of the handouts I put into the classroom in order to keep up with their peers and prove their understanding.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
