Our program focuses on mastery, engagement, and confidence-building, ensuring that your child develops a strong foundation in math while leaving any fears behind. Whether your child is homeschooled or in a traditional classroom, we foster a cooperative and supportive learning environment where all learners can thrive. This year, we will explore 8th-grade math concepts, diving deep into the standards to create a solid foundation for success. With Nearpodโs gamification, learning will be engaging and fun, igniting your child's passion for math. Your child will receive expert guidance from a certified educator in the comfort of your home. ๐ Inside Our Classroom ๐ Each week, weโll explore a new 8th-grade topic, starting with warm-ups to review prior knowledge and ensure a strong foundation. After a mini-lesson, learners will apply what theyโve learned using the โI do, we do, you doโ method, moving from guided practice to independent work. We wrap up each session with a student-selected Gimkit game to reinforce key concepts. ๐ Ongoing Learning Support ๐ To support learning beyond the classroom, I provide teacher-created printables for 5 days of practice, helping reinforce the lessons and ensure better mastery. Following each class, a YouTube review link will be shared for learners to self-assess. Additionally, I periodically provide printables and notes to support both learners and parents on their journey. ๐ป What is Nearpod? ๐ป Nearpod is an interactive learning platform that allows students to engage with the lesson at their own comfort level. They can showcase their work, ask questions, and receive real-time feedback. I use Nearpod to share interactive slideshows, personalized math problems, and more. Learners simply need to copy the class link or enter the Nearpod app code to begin. They can also participate with paper and pencil while engaging with lessons on Zoom screen share. โญ Weโre a Team! โญ Each month, Iโll share a newsletter with updates, weekly topics, and tips to help you support your child at home. Feel free to reach out anytime with questions or concerns โ letโs work together to create a nurturing environment where your child can thrive! ๐ Letโs make math magic happen at Mathletes! ๐ Enroll today to help your learner master 8th-grade math! ๐ ๐ 2024-2025 School Year Schedule ๐ ๐ No Classes on: September 2nd (Labor Day) October 31st (Evening) November 25th-29th (Fall Break) December 23rd-31st (Winter Break) January 1st-3rd (Winter Break) February 17th April 14th-18th (Spring Break) May 26th (Memorial Day) Last Week of Classes: June 2nd! ๐ 2025-2026 School Year ๐ ๐ No Classes on: September 1st (Labor Day) October (None) November 24th-28th (Fall Break) December 22nd-31st (Winter Break) January 1st-2nd (Winter Break) February (None) March (None) April 6th-10th (Spring Break) May 25th (Memorial Day) Last week of classes: June 1st! โ๏ธ Curriculum by Module โ๏ธ Module 1: Real Numbers & Exponents Module 2: Expressions & Equations Module 3: Linear & Functional Relationships Module 4: Systems of Equations Module 5: Patterns & Bivariate Data Module 6: Congruency & Similarity Module 7: Geometry โ๏ธ Lessons by Topic in Sequential Order: โ๏ธ Week 1: Exploring Real Numbers (Week of September 1, 2025) Week 2: Absolute Value & Opposites (Week of September 8, 2025) Week 3: Square Roots, Cube Roots, & Perfect Squares (Week of September 15, 2025) Week 4: Powers & Exponents (Week of September 22, 2025) Week 5: Scientific Notation & Powers of 10 (Week of September 29, 2025) Week 6: Adding & Subtracting Integers (Week of October 6, 2025) Week 7: Multiplying & Dividing Integers (Week of October 13, 2025) Week 8: Adding & Subtracting Rational Numbers (Week of October 20, 2025) Week 9: Multiplying & Dividing Rational Numbers (Week of October 27, 2025) Week 10: Fractions, Decimals, & Percents (Week of November 3, 2025) Week 11: Expressions & Like Terms (Week of November 10, 2025) Week 12: Distributive Property & Factoring Expressions (Week of November 17, 2025) (No Class - Thanksgiving Week, November 24, 2025) Week 13: Adding & Subtracting Expressions (Week of December 1, 2025) Week 14: Simplify & Solve 1-Step Equations (Week of December 8, 2025) Week 15: Two-Step Equations (Week of December 15, 2025) (No Class - Winter Break, December 22 & 29, 2025) Week 16: Multi-Step Equations (Week of January 5, 2026) Week 17: Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides (Week of January 12, 2026) Week 18: Inequalities with Two-Step & Multi-Step Equations (Week of January 19, 2026) Week 19: Proportions & Ratios/Unit Rates (Week of January 26, 2026) Week 20: Slope & Rate of Change (Week of February 2, 2026) Week 21: Graphing Equations with Ordered Pairs (Week of February 9, 2026) Week 22: Graphing Equations with Intercepts (Week of February 16, 2026) Week 23: Slope-Intercept Form from Charts (Week of February 23, 2026) Week 24: Writing Slope-Intercept Form from Two Points or a Given Slope & Point (Week of March 2, 2026) Week 25: Slope-Intercept Form - Graphing Using Slope (Week of March 9, 2026) Week 26: Comparing Linear Functions (Week of March 16, 2026) Week 27: Graphing Two-Variable Inequalities (Week of March 23, 2026) Week 28: Writing Systems of Equations (Week of March 30, 2026) (No Class - Spring Break, April 6-10, 2026) Week 29: Solving by Graphing (Week of April 13, 2026) Week 30: Solving with Substitution (Week of April 20, 2026) Week 31: Solving with Elimination (Week of April 27, 2026) Week 32: Multi-Step Percents (Week of May 4, 2026) Week 33: Percentage Change (Week of May 11, 2026) Week 34: Compound Interest (Week of May 18, 2026) Week 35: Pythagorean Theorem (Week of May 25, 2026) Week 36: Using Pythagorean Theorem in Real-World Problems (Week of June 1, 2026)
