👋🏼 Welcome, Mathletes! 👋🏼

Welcome to Mathletes - discover your learner's true potential and take their learning adventure to new heights! Our program is all about mastery, engagement, and confidence-building, leaving behind any fears of math. In our classroom community of respect and friendship, both homeschooled and traditional learners will come together to explore math, fostering a cooperative and supportive learning environment.

During our year together, we will dive into the world of third-grade math, exploring the standards to create a solid foundation. With the power of Nearpod's gamification, learning becomes an engaging experience, igniting your child's passion for math. Your child will receive expert guidance from a certified educator in the comfort of your home, creating a dynamic classroom environment that fosters growth.

📓 Inside Our Classroom 📓

Each week we will explore a new 3rd-grade topic. We reinforce knowledge and skills by beginning with warm-ups to review past topics and ensure a strong foundation. A mini-lesson follows, where we dive deep into the current week's subject, providing students with a comprehensive understanding. To apply what they've learned, we use the effective "I do, we do, you do" approach, allowing for guided practice before transitioning to independent exercises. We wrap up each session with a student-selected Gimkit game to reinforce multiplication facts.

📚 Ongoing Learning Support 📚

To enhance learning beyond the classroom, I offer learners a set of teacher-created printables for five days of additional practice, complementing and reinforcing the lessons to ensure better mastery. Following each class, a YouTube link is provided in the virtual classroom, allowing learners to review the answers and assess their own work. Additionally, throughout the year, I periodically supply printables and notes to support both learners and parents on their learning journey.

 💻 What is Nearpod 💻

Nearpod, a free program, empowers learners to actively participate in class according to their comfort level. With Nearpod, students can showcase their work, seek assistance or ask questions privately. As an educator, I utilize this platform to share my interactive slideshows, featuring engaging lesson slides and personalized math problems for each student to solve. The real-time nature of Nearpod enables me to observe their problem-solving process, facilitating individualized instruction and personalized guidance. Accessing this program is easy for your child; they simply need to copy the class link provided or enter the code into the Nearpod App, opening up a world of interactive and tailored learning experiences. If your learner prefers paper and pencil, they can still easily participate in our lessons as all material is viewed on the Zoom screen share.

⭐ We're a Team ⭐

I will share a monthly newsletter in the classroom at the start of every month. This newsletter will be a valuable resource for you, containing weekly topics we will cover, any schedule changes, and helpful tips and tricks to support your learners at home. I encourage you and your learner to reach out at any time with questions or concerns you may have. Let's work together to create a nurturing and successful learning environment where your child can thrive.

Hello learners!

My name is Tara Laczynski, and I live in South Carolina, USA. I am a certified teacher with 17 years of experience, teaching 3rd through 7th grades, with classroom expertise in ESL and Advanced Academic (Gifted and Talented) learners. In 2018, I transitioned to online English teaching, conducting over 2,500 classes for students of all ages.

Since joining Outschool in April 2021, I’ve been thrilled to teach math to students worldwide. My classes encourage learners to take risks, try new things, and build math confidence in a supportive environment. I believe that confidence grows through understanding, and I love seeing students explain the “why” behind their answers, leading to enriching discussions.

As a Nearpod Certified Educator, I incorporate interactive Nearpod elements in my classes, gamifying learning so students actively engage and practice independently. To reach even more families, I am expanding my program to include other educators who share my commitment to making math engaging, accessible, and confidence-boosting.

I look forward to learning and growing with you!

Mrs. Laczynski, B.Ed
Certified Nearpod Instructor
