I LOVE math, and I LOVE puzzles that require critical thinking! I make it a goal to find creative and interesting ways to deliver instruction while helping students build their math sense. With 25 years of teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2 to students with a variety of skill levels, including 5 years teaching online to students learning from home, I feel uniquely qualified to provide learners with the tools they need to become masters of mathematics!
Because this is a flex class, "homework" will be for students to complete all activities in the lesson prior to the release of the subsequent lessons. Since practice makes perfect, an additional 10-20 minutes daily should be spent reviewing the notes taken from each of the lessons- this will help keep the skills fresh for each upcoming topic.
Students should have a 3-ring binder or some type of math notebook in order to keep track of their notes. A PDF will be provided on Sundays via the messaging system in Outschool with an outline/notes/directions for all of the activities that should be completed prior to the start of the subsequent lesson.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Feedback will be provided for the discussion questions, as well as comments, ideas, strategies and answers to questions posted on the Google document.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
