Class Experience

It’s never too early to prepare for assessments demonstrating mastery using math formulas. The student that has a basic understanding of whole number and decimal operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing) can extend their skill set of those operations by finding perimeter, area, circumference and volume of a variety of figures.

I provide video tutorials, examples, supporting activities and the directions to seamlessly follow The student will be encouraged to take notes as they move through the lessons, as this will help them understand the examples and complete the activities. I will also be available to answer questions posted in Outschool messages, typically within a 24-hour time frame. The goal will be to finish all activities within a 4-week time frame; however, time can be extended as needed.

Upon completion of all activities, the student will have strengthened skills with whole number and decimal operations, experience with evaluating formulas, and making algebraic connections which support math proficiency.
Learning Goals
The student will be able to find:

-perimeter and area of squares, rectangles and triangles
-circumference and area of circles
-surface area and volume of a rectangular prism
-the correct formula to use when presented as a word problem
