The class will focus on subtraction within 10. There will be a variety of different platforms used such as SeeSaw and Flippity. The class is constructed in a Gradual Release model layout: I DO, WE DO, YOU DO. I DO: I will explain to the mathematicians what we will learn, how we will learn it, and why. WE DO: The mathematicians will do some problems together with all of the mathematicians interacting. YOU DO: The mathematicians will practice some problems by themselves on their white boards or piece of papers. Mathematicians will practice decomposing numbers within 10. The mathematicians' classes will start by decomposing numbers 4 and 5. The Gradual Release model is followed to decompose numbers 4 and 5 the learners will start to practice subtracting within 4 and 5. The same method will follow for numbers 6 and 7, 8 and 9, last 10. The mathematicians will use a variety of methods such as number bonds and 10 frames to decompose numbers and subtract. Mathematicians will learn and review the symbols used to construct number sentences (-,=). Mathematicians will interact with the teacher using white boards or a piece of paper to answer questions.Mathematicians will have an assessment in Seesaw of subtraction fluency within 5. To ensure success in this class mathematicians will need to be able to count and identify numbers to 10.

My name is Brittany! I have 4 boys and 3 dogs! I have a BA in Communications, minor in marketing. As well as a Masters in Childhood Education. I am currently working on a PhD in General Psychology with an emphasis in cognition and instruction. I am a Kindergarten teacher and enjoy all things primary school.
