This class will focus on how to add two-digit numbers with regrouping using the traditional method and partial sums. Each lesson consists of one 5-10 minute mini-lesson along with guided practice and independent practice for the skill of the day. Students will have activities to show their proficiency in that skill, therefore a printer is necessary. LESSON 1 The Base 10 System For the first day we will explore what the ten base system is and how each place value is 10 times greater than the previous column. LESSON 2 Adding with Partial Sums For the second day we will focus on adding with partial sums. We will discuss what that means and further cement the meaning the place value system. LESSON 3 Adding the Ones Place with Regrouping Lesson three will focus on the traditional method of adding and what regrouping means. LESSON 4 Adding the Tens with Regrouping For the 4th day we will go over how 10 groups of ten equals 100. LESSON 5 Review and Assessment Students will be review what we learned during the week and an optional assessment will be given. This self paced course is a part of my growing Math Workshop series tailored to teaching specific skills in a weekly course. Since this is a self paced class, students can go through the course at their own pace to suit their personal learning style and schedule however, for maximum retention and practice a week is recommended with one lesson a day. 24 HOUR CLASS PREVIEW DETAILS Not sure if this class is the right fit? Welcome! My name is Debbie Denton and I am a certified teacher with a Bachelors of Science in Education with a concentration in the visual arts. I also hold Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on math and science. I have been lucky enough throughout my career to have taught grades K through 6 and be a math and reading interventionist. Math is one of my favorite subjects to teach and I love thinking of creative ways to get students to love it too and gain confidence.
I primarily teach math classes and most popular class is my 1:1 math tutoring class, but I have expanded my classes recently to include art classes as well as thematic science classes for first, second, third and fourth grades.
I also teach full curriculum math classes for grades first through fifth and have many self paced courses for those looking to learn at their own speed with teacher support.
Warm Regards,
Debbie
