Teacher expertise and credentials
I am so excited to be a part of online learning that Out School offers. I teach math classes geared to 5th-10th grade where I focus on Pre-algebra and Algebra. Math is my main focus but will offer other topics from time to time.
After earning my Bachelors of Science Degree in math education from Texas Women’s University in 1995 I began teaching in the public school in Texas. I have taught math in grades 5th through 8th including high school Algebra. I have been an interventionist for brick and mortar and online schools since 2008. As an interventionist I help students with math that is a struggle for them. In 2013 I earned my Masters in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. I hold a Texas Lifetime Teacher certificate in self contain elementary classroom and Math 1st through 8th grades.
Math is difficult for many students and my goal is to ease the stress of math by showing how math is possible for all learners. My math classes will be structured by visually learning math using different ways of learning one math concept. I will always model how to do the problem and then have students show me how to solve the problems. My hope is to make math more interesting and fun so the student will have a better understanding.
