Class Experience
This flexible scheduling class is designed for young learners to practice early math skills using hands-on activities, songs, games and more. This class has NO live meetings, which allows learners to complete the course work at a flexible pace and provides opportunities for individualized feedback from the instructor. Learners will interact with fellow classmates by viewing videos, posting classwork and participating in shared games! In this flexible class, I will post two video recordings on the weekly topic with activities to complete following the lesson. Each video will include a welcome song and warm-up activity, followed by a brief mini-lesson and instruction for at-home activities. Learners will share their completed activities (photos of classwork, videos) in the Outschool classroom for feedback and interaction with peers. Throughout the week, I will check the classroom for posted work to provide feedback, additional support and encouragement. My teaching style includes a blend of prepared class slides, interactive math games/activities, and hands-on visuals to support learners and keep a high level of engagement. It's important to me that all learners feel successful and are able to participate at their level. Learners will engage with both the teacher and peers in the Outschool Classroom, it is highly encouraged to post and share your work so we can learn from one another! Learners will need to have writing tools such as crayons or colored pencils, a set of 20 small counters (cereal, blocks, mini erasers), and a whiteboard with dry erase marker. Learners will need to access and print handouts to use during lessons and to complete weekly activities. Parents are encouraged to engage with learners while completing the weekly activities, as many are games that can be played with a partner. Learning Goals
Students will develop number recognition, counting strategies, sequencing, sorting, patterning, shapes, colors and simple addition/subtraction skills.
Students will be able to follow instructions to complete hands-on activities such as number writing, coloring and counting and simple games.
Students will learn and use key math vocabulary throughout class.
Students will share their learning with others in the flexible classroom.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Parents will need to assist with simple materials each week such as printing a PDF, providing writing/coloring materials, and collecting a set of small objects (such as blocks, crackers, or coins). Parents are encouraged to participate in weekly activities for practice purposes as they see fit.
Supply List
Pencils, crayons, markers or colored pencils Set of 2 dice Ability to print PDFs, 2-3 pages per week. Set of 20 objects - crackers/cereal, blocks, coins, or other small objects such as mini erasers or cars.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
