While having fun, students will work on: - building up their math skill on plotting points on coordinate grid, - differing between the x and the y-coordinate, the x-axis and y-axis, as well as the origin (0,0) - drawing symmetry figures, plotting symmetrical point to a give point, - introducing the concept of area, - drawing conclusions about the area of symmetrical figures, - performing translations, rotations and rotations using hands-on activity and virtual activities as well, - building up their math skills on recognizing similar and congruent shapes, and different 2-D shapes, - improving their spatial visualization skills, - refining hand-eye coordination, - improving their concentration, - boosting their brain activity, - encouraging systematic thinking, - improving their problem-solving skills and - building their confidence.
Students will need: a one -page handout will be attached to the classroom wall before the class which should be printed, -pencil, colors pencils, -origami paper or the handout attached, -paper glue, - scissors (parental guidance might be needed)
