As a person who struggled with math as a student, I can empathize with and relate to students as they try to learn new and difficult concepts. I display patience with the learners, give them time to respond, and offer encouragement for their efforts. Students should be made to feel comfortable when they are willing to participate in class. In this ongoing class, students will meet once a week to learn and practice the topics in Lesson 1 - 30 of Math-U-See Geometry. Some topics include transversals, Pythagorean Theorem, proving triangles congruent, and trigonometric functions. The goal is to cover 2 lessons each week. During each class, the new lesson will be introduced to the learners. I will complete practice problems with the learners. Students are encouraged to ask questions in class. I will make every effort to involve all students in class participation. Each learner will need a student workbook. An instruction manual must be purchased to have access to the answers in the student workbook. This will assist parents in checking their learner’s answers each week. As appropriate, I incorporate review games into the lessons to further solidify the math concepts to the learners. Students should have taken Algebra 1.
