Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
Students will receive 1-on-1 teaching based on their individual needs and skills. Prior to class, I will communicate with parents or guardians to discuss their student's strengths, individual learning needs/style, and areas for growth. This class also allows students to bring homework or classwork they need additional help with. Don’t know what exactly your child is struggling with, you just know math is a challenge for them and a point of frustration? No worries, through a quick informal game or activity I will develop a learning plan based on their current skills.

I am a special education teacher at heart which means I believe strongly in positive reinforcement and teaching using a gradual release method. I will introduce and review skills using the I do, we do, you do model. This will increase your student's confidence by ensuring they have the opportunity to ask questions and practice skills in a safe learning environment.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Special Education from Texas Tech University
I have been in special education for the last 11 years. I have extensive experience teaching individualized small group math lessons for students in kindergarten - 5th grade. The purpose of these small group lessons were to teach students foundational skills in order to successfully learn grade-level content. As an Educational Diagnostician, I use formal testing to determine student's areas of need and the underlining cause of their learning difficulties. I then develop individualized interventions and plans to support their learning needs.
