### Class Experience

Individual learning goals are based upon student's current level of study and area of parental concerns. These have been discussed between the teacher and parent through the Outschool messaging platform to ensure the session is targeted to the students needs and the parental expectations. Goals can be revised at the request of the parent(s). For this listing the goals include the following: Goals Week 1: Count to ten thousand | Read and show numbers in place value charts | Counting on to one hundred thousand | Find the value of each digit in a number | Find the expanded form of a 5-digit number Goals Week 2: Compare 5-digit numbers |Order 5-digit numbers | Use rounding to check reasonableness of sums and differences | Use front end estimation to check reasonableness Goals Week 3: Use rounding to check reasonableness of products | Use multiplication facts to check reasonableness of quotients | Decide whether to estimate or solve for exact answer Goals Week4: Break down whole numbers into factors | Determine if one number is a factor of another number | Find common factors of two whole numbers | Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers | Identify prime and composite numbers Goals Week 5: Find the multiples of a number | Determine whether a number is a multiple of another number | Find the first 12 multiples of a number | Find common multiples of two whole numbers | Find the least common multiple of two whole numbers Goals Week 6: Represent numbers using place value charts | Model multiplication with regrouping | Multiply using the place value of each digit Goals Week 7: Multiply by tens | Two ways to multiply by hundreds | Multiply a 2-digit number by a 2-digit Number | Multiply a 3-digit number by a 2-digit number | Use a number line to estimate products Goal Week 8: Model Division with regrouping in hundreds, tens and ones

Students will complete guided and independent exercises in class. Worksheets will be provided to reinforce and practice the target level of study and skill. Additionally student will be provided links to Boom Learning or PearDeck for additional optional practice activities.

Math In Focus Singapore Math by Marshall Cavendish Student Book 4A Math In Focus Singapore Math by Marshall Cavendish Work Book 4A (optional, I can provide copies) Grade 4 Math In Focus Classroom Manipulatives Kit (OPTIONAL. This set can be substituted with everyday items such as grid paper cut outs, real coins, number cards/spinners, buttons or beans, unused pencils, fraction circles hand drawn or from computer graphic, dot paper, ruler showing inches and cm, protractor, kitchen measuring cups, string, paper money(from a game or toy), coins or slips of colored paper, construction paper, paper clips, pencils) Notebook or Whiteboard Writing Utensil

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:

Student will have the choice to complete the assessment during live session or as homework as weekly topics are completed. Assessments will be structured in conjunction with the Math In Focus Assessment Book 4A.

3 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

We will refer to the Math In Focus Singapore Math 4A by Marshall Cavendish Student Book, Workbook and Assessment book throughout the course.
