Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 8
This course is highly adaptable to fit your students learning style and academic level in mathematics. Music is inherently number oriented, pattern rich, and filled with opportunities to understand math concepts in a naturalistic way. This course is especially created to support neurodiverse learners or those with a unique learning style that may benefit from a non-traditional approach to math.
This class is open to music-lovers who don't play an instrument, or students already learning an instrument. No prior music experience is needed as each class is adapted to meet your learner where they are.
I work with learners & their families to establish a math related goal prior to the start of class. In class, students will participate in a music based lesson that addresses the math goal. Some examples include counting beats, identifying rhythmic or melodic patterns, working on addition and subtraction through scales and note intervals, learning formula's based on overtones, working with music symbols, dividing whole notes into smaller parts, etc. I typically have a variety of options planned, but tend to be very fluid and conversational in my teaching approach. My goal is for your learner to LOVE learning about math and feel empowered in their new skills. I am open for feedback and questions for the duration of the class period. I look forward to working with you and your learner!
