Beginner Level
Math Talks encourage learners to think flexibly about numbers. This Math Talks course focuses on the basic facts and is perfect for learners just venturing into multiplication and division. Learners will interact with each other to solve multiplication and division problems while developing a deep understanding of number relationships. This class builds a foundational understanding of multiplication and division.

Each session focuses on a specific computation thinking strategy. Strategies do not build on each other but rather provide multiple ways to think about numbers. Learners are welcome to join in for one session or stay for many sessions. This class focuses on sharing math thinking in a safe space with an emphasis on making sense of mathematics. Visual prompts spark learner curiosity and put learners at the center of the learning. We will draw out student thinking to allow students "see" the math, make connections and deepen understanding of multiplication and division. Studies show that memorization and drills don't work for all students. When students understand numbers...learners have the skills and confidence to solve problems in a way that makes sense to them. Students will build a math mindset that will give them the confidence to be the best that they can be!

**Each session focuses on developing a specific computation strategy. Strategies do not build on the previous week strategy.
