Order of Operations is an important skill to have mastered as learners move on into more advanced mathematics. In this short course, learners will master working the order of operations by using pneumonic devices, guided practice, and problem-solving skills. I will offer immediate feedback which will help students learn from their mistakes and progress to mastery of this skill with confidence. This class consists of two 30-minute live sessions. I taught high school math in a public-school setting for 6 years before my eldest was born. Since then I have been staying home with my kids, which I love, but I haven't given up teaching. My favorite thing has always been to work with small groups of students or one-on-one so that I can really get to know the student, their needs, and their learning style. I have tutored many students in many different classes, including middle school pre-algebra, high school ACT/SAT prep, and college pre-calculus. I have often seen students struggle with fluency in basic math skills, which greatly affects their confidence and ability to succeed in higher level math classes. To that end, I have created a series of "Building Blocks" classes to help students master the basic skills they need. Parents have said: She is patient and easy to understand. She makes the kids feel relaxed during the lesson and makes sure they understand difficult concepts. -Mark Excellence. Great tutor helping my daughter. Explains everything in a way where she understands. -Daniel My son felt relieved after the first lesson! She explains things in a clear way and is very aware of the student's needs and strengths. I highly recommend Rachel. -Debbie
I will provide note-taking guide for the live learning sessions and practice worksheets for homework. Students will need to print the PDF packet or be able to complete it on a device such as an iPad.
