Teacher Bob here.  I have taught grades 4 to high school for more than 25 years and I have to say one of my favorite courses to teach is math. Not only is math important (we use it in many areas of life), but it's also fun. 

Why did the girl (or boy) wear glasses to math class?  Answer:  It improved di-vision.

Seriously, while I do crack the odd joke in class, my classes are both fun and educational.  I'm a laid-back style teacher and encourage engagement with my students.  

At the beginning of class, we say our hellos and then down to business.  I teach the weekly math concept using both PowerPoint and an Interactive Whiteboard. The students and I then work on problems together, before they work independently. All the while, Teacher Bob will be providing feedback on their work.

The schedule of all math classes for 8th grade math concepts (based on common core standards) that we will cover from June 20 to July 25, 2024, will be as follows:

•	Week 1  June 20: The Number System:  Radicals and integer exponents.
•	Week 2  June 27: Expressions and Equations:  Linear equations.
•	Week 3  July 4: Functions:  Evaluating and comparing.
•	Week 4  July 11: Geometry
•	Week 5  July 18: Statistics and Probability
•	Week 6  July 25: Mathematical Practices



In our math lessons, we will work towards:
1.	Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
2.	Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
3.	Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
4.	Model with mathematics.
5.	Use appropriate tools strategically.
6.	Attend to precision.
7.	Look for and make use of structure.
