Does your learner find math word problems tricky or overwhelming? They’re not alone—and that’s exactly what this class is for! In this ongoing, once-a-week online class, we’ll tackle math word problems together in a supportive, step-by-step environment.

Designed for students working at a 4th to 5th grade level, each session will focus on solving both single-step and multi-step story problems. We’ll break down each problem, highlight key information, and choose the best problem-solving strategy—whether it’s drawing a diagram, using guess-and-check, finding a pattern, working backward, or writing an equation.

Along the way, learners will explore a variety of math topics including:

-Fractions and percents

-Geometry and formulas

-Pre-algebra and equations

-Probability and logical reasoning

Some problems may stretch your learner's thinking, while others will reinforce foundational skills. Either way, they'll gain confidence, build problem-solving strategies, and have fun learning together with peers!

All learners working at a 4th or 5th grade level are welcome to join—let’s solve these math mysteries together!

Hi! I’m a certified Elementary Educator with a Master’s in Educational Leadership and over 18 years of classroom experience, both in the U.S. and around the world. My teaching journey has taken me to international schools in New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Thailand, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, where my family and I had the privilege of living for 15 years. These global experiences have shaped my teaching philosophy and deepened my commitment to working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

I specialize in small-group and one-on-one instruction, where I can truly connect with learners, foster curiosity, and empower them to take ownership of their learning. I believe that meaningful relationships are the foundation for authentic education—and I strive to make every student feel valued, seen, and supported.

On Outschool, I teach a wide range of classes including various levels of math, problem-solving sessions, world travel and geography lessons, book clubs, nature journaling, tutoring, reading comprehension courses, and novel studies. No matter the topic, I prioritize engagement, quality instruction, and making learning fun and relevant.

Outside the classroom, I’m a passionate long-distance trail runner, an avid reader, and a lifelong traveler. I love being outdoors and believe that adventure, both in life and learning, helps us grow in the most meaningful ways. I’m also a proud mom of two young children and married to a fellow teacher (you might see him on Outschool, too!).
