Class Experience

Students will learn different place values- ones, tens, hundreds and thousands (depending on student level).
Students will show understanding by completing games and activities.
I am a teacher with 15 years of classroom experience in elementary schools. I have my M.Ed. in Elementary Education as well as an endorsement as an Academically Gifted teacher. My love for teaching has taken me all over the world, including teaching for 5 years in Japan. I love integrating curriculum and making it engaging for all learners. I truly believe children learn best by doing. I live in NC and have two young daughters. We are a proud military family!
A food item to represent the ones, tens and hundreds place. Only one for each value. Some ideas are: ones- skittles, m and m, marshmallow, raisins, cheerios, etc. tens- stick pretzels, veggie fries, gummy worms, etc. hundreds- cheeze its, cheese cube, saltines, etc. If time and student level allows I will introduce thousands place. Large graham cracker works well for that value.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will check for understanding throughout the lesson by asking questions, observing their work and student conversation.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
