In this 4-week class we will meet twice a week to develop number sense in relation to fractions through games, practice and discussion.

US Grade 4 - 5
In this third quarter multi-day course we will meet once a week to cover the required skills of 4th and 5th graders. During this third quarter we will focus on Number Sense in relation to fractions. The course will be taught using an I do, we do, you do teaching strategy. Level of instruction will be determined by student ability/level. Each class will begin with a spiral review or a game to keep skills going and end with students explaining a skill that they developed that day, or that...
Students will spend 8 weeks developing number sense in relation to fractions. Students will leave with an understanding what fractions are, adding and subtraction of fractions and comparing fractions.
I have been a teacher for 21 mostly 4th and 5th grade with a specialization in math and science. Coached teachers on best practices for teaching math for 5 years.
Homework Offered
Students will be given optional extra practice. Answers will be provided so parents can help students check their understanding.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Each week students will be assessed as we complete problems as a group. Students will also be given an end of class assessment the last session so parents can see the students progress.Grades Offered
Print-outs as sent through Outschool classroom, spiral notebook to keep notes organized, personal white board is an option as it is easier to read the white board marker over pencil when students are sharing.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents may need to help students with the optional extra practice between classes.
