Math Puzzle Club invites young problem-solvers to explore imaginative worlds and tackle dynamic challenges with puzzles that spark curiosity, encourage creative thinking, and show the true beauty of mathematics. Each class, we explore a different mathematical puzzle. These puzzles are open-ended, generally following the formula of being easy to approach while being hard to master. Our exploration will also take the direction of the learners' interests, modifying or extending the puzzles to pursue deeper understanding. The goal of the course is to introduce students to the style of problem-solving and exploration that mathematicians actually employ. In Math Puzzle Club, we lean into challenge and embrace failure! We strive to attain the satisfaction of true discovery. Twin Oaks Learning Collective offers eight Math Puzzle Club courses in three levels! 1) LEVEL 1: ages 6-8 a) Magical Worlds https://outschool.com/classes/math-puzzle-club-Nfx3meKP b) Odd Adventures https://outschool.com/classes/math-puzzle-club-mSJmSsE1 2) LEVEL 2: ages 8-10 a) Dynamic Playground https://outschool.com/classes/math-puzzle-club-ufycvLPi b) Quirky Creatures https://outschool.com/classes/math-puzzle-club-FAB1Tsdi c) Mysterious Shapes https://outschool.com/classes/math-puzzle-club-LKT53kt5 3) LEVEL 3: ages 10-12 a) Epic Frontiers https://outschool.com/classes/math-puzzle-club-EIXaZNWo b) Challenger’s Quest https://outschool.com/classes/math-puzzle-club-QqoqHwoc At Twin Oaks Learning Collective, all of our classes have a cameras-on policy. STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO KEEP THEIR CAMERAS ON FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE LESSON. Students who are verified non-video learners (green checkmark accounts) are exempted from this policy. We have found that cameras on keeps student-teacher interaction strong and improves learning. If your learner is unable to take a course without keeping their camera on, please reach out to us to discuss an exception.
