Math- Private Tutoring: Grade 3-6

This class is for students in grades 3-6 who require 1:1 tutoring in math. 

I can focus on the student's needs in 2 different ways:

1.)  Parents can let me know, ahead of time, what area in the math curriculum the student needs help 
For example:
- the recall of addition/ multiplication facts
-understanding mental math strategies
-understanding of an operation such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division
-number sense
-geometry
-problem-solving
-estimation
-any other area

or
2.)  I can do a math assessment to find the areas in which the student would benefit from instruction


I use virtual manipulatives to enhance the student’s connection between a visual picture and number symbols. The structure of the class is such that I will teach individual skills as well as provide opportunities for the student to use these skills in context. Students will have many opportunities to practice skills in isolation as well as in real-life scenarios. 

Other than my many years of teaching math in an elementary school setting, I have taught recovery math online with Outschool for over a year. I have had great success working with a struggling math student who was far below grade level. Through my lessons, she was able to return to grade level. 

Students will find the class atmosphere very welcoming and safe.
