Class Experience

A variety of math goals will be covered such as place value, counting, skip counting, solve for an unknown, addition & subtraction.
I have 6 years of experience as a classroom special education teacher, five years of experience as a homeschool mom & 20 years of experience as a tutor. I especially love teaching in a way that makes learning fun and builds confidence with a love of learning!
Optional homework will be assigned out of Math Mammoth grade 1 international version.
The student should always come to class with something to write with, this can be a whiteboard/marker or paper. It is not required but can be fun to have one die (1-6) on hand in case we play a game and/or counter manipulatives + different colors to draw pictures with. These are general items that are always good to have accessible to your child in their workspace.
Informal feedback can be given based on group classes. Optional homework can provide work samples. A formal math assessment will be provided 3x/year for students to take independently who are enrolled in at least 4 consecutive weeks at the beginning/middle/end of the year.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
