Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Intermediate Level
"Math Navigator: Individual Tutoring for Middle School" is designed to spark curiosity and build a robust understanding of mathematics for middle school students. The tutoring sessions are one-on-one, which allows for personalized attention and lesson plans tailored to each student's needs and pace.

The class will cover the middle school math curriculum, including topics like:

Advanced Number Sense (Integers, Rational Numbers)
Advanced Operations and Algebraic Expressions
Equations and Inequalities
Ratios, Proportions, and Percentages
Geometry (Shapes, Area, Volume, Angles)
Statistics and Probability
Introduction to Algebra and Functions
Each 40-minute session will typically start with a quick recap of previous topics, followed by an introduction to the new concept for the day. We'll then delve into this concept with engaging activities, practice problems, and interactive games, and end with a brief summary and preview of the next session's topic.

My teaching style is interactive and student-centered. Rather than just lecturing, I believe in guiding students to discover mathematical principles themselves. The use of visual aids, manipulatives, and real-life examples will be common, and I'll be using a virtual whiteboard and screen sharing to aid my teaching.

Given the individual nature of these sessions, students will have ample opportunities for interaction. There will be open-ended questions, problem-solving exercises, and games where students actively participate. I'll be there to provide support and clarifications at every step.

Students should ideally have a primary school understanding of mathematics before joining this class, as the curriculum is designed for middle school students advancing from basic arithmetic to more complex concepts. All the materials required for the class will be shared with the students digitally. If any additional resources are needed in the future, I will provide ample notice.

Hello there! I'm William, an Economics graduate from the University of California, Santa Cruz, currently working as a tutor at Club Z. I'm dedicated to simplifying the world of economics and personal finance for young learners. My classes break down complex economic concepts and financial management into fun, understandable lessons. With a teaching philosophy centered around the belief that everyone can understand economics—it's all about finding the right explanation—I employ real-world examples and interactive teaching methods to make learning engaging and practical. I aim for students to walk away with knowledge they can apply not only in their academic journey but also in their everyday lives. Beyond academia, I am a passionate car and motorcycle enthusiast who enjoys tinkering with engines and embarking on long road trips. Let's set off on this educational journey together, making learning an exciting adventure!
