Math Mystery Escape Room: The Case of the Super Bad Superhero

*The class is set for 50 minutes, but I will stay extra time (if needed) for the kids to solve the mystery as it sometimes takes 5 extra minutes. The class is capped at 4 learners to provide more individual attention.

For years, the city of Mathattan has been protected from crime by superheroes, but one of the superheroes has gone rogue! Citizens have gone missing and are being held hostage! Even the mayor has been kidnapped! We need skilled math detectives like you to track the super bad superhero and save the citizens of Mathattan! 

This digital math mystery will involve working together to solve math problems in order to reveal clues and eliminate suspects. The students should have some prior knowledge of basic addition facts and skip counting (repeated addition/basic multiplication).

This interactive math mystery integrates math skills with reading, analyzing, and critical thinking. So, Math Detectives, grab a small whiteboard, dry erase marker, and eraser (or paper and pencil) and help save the city of Mathattan by solving the mystery of the Super Bad Superhero!

*It will be very helpful if the learner already has a very basic understanding of how Zoom works, like how to make sure their name shows in their camera box in class so we know who they are and how to mute themselves when not speaking to avoid a lot of background noise from multiple learners at once in the classroom.
