In this one-time class, we will use addition, subtraction, simple multiplication (x2, x10), expanded form of numbers, and time to the hour and half hour to solve the mystery of the Halloween Heist.

Class Experience
*The class is set for 50 minutes, but I will stay extra time (if needed) for the kids to solve the mystery as it sometimes takes 5 extra minutes. The class is capped at 4 learners to provide more individual attention. WHO DID IT?? The goal of this class is to use various math skills to solve problems, examine clues, and eliminate suspects to determine who stole the items in The Case of the Halloween Heist.
I have been a licensed and certified K-8 classroom teacher for over 25 years.
The student detectives will need to bring a small whiteboard, dry erase marker, and eraser (or paper and pencil) to work out math problems presented in the mystery.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
