In this multi-day math camp, students will begin the week by creating an alligator using greater than, less than, and equal symbols to compare numbers. The symbols are included in an attachment. For the second lesson, students will practice skip counting by twos, fives, and tens. Students will need counters to line up rows of twos, fives, and tens. Any small objects will work as counters such as beans, Fruit Loops, or pennies. The third lesson will focus on recognizing coins and the amount of each coin. The skip counting lesson from the previous day will be reinforced by counting coins. Students will need an assortment of change to count during this lesson. For the fourth lesson, students will use crayons or markers to measure using non-standard measurement. This lesson will also introduce the concept of time as a measurement. Students will be introduced to the difference between digital and analog clocks. The students will practice using the vocabulary words analog, digital, o'clock, hour hand, and minute hand.
