Class Description: Understanding Area and Perimeter What will be taught? Students will learn the fundamentals of calculating area and perimeter for various shapes. What topics will you cover? Definition and formulas for area and perimeter Calculating area and perimeter for squares, rectangles, and triangles Real-life applications of area and perimeter Problem-solving strategies How is the class structured? The class is structured into short, interactive mini lesson (10-15 minutes) starting with a brief review, followed by a hands-on activities, collaborative problem-solving exercises. How I teach? I will use a combination of visual aids, interactive activities, and real-life examples to make the concepts clear and engaging. Students will have an opportunity to participate in group discussions with a family member or friend to work on practical problems, and use digital tools to visualize shapes and measurements. What's the teaching style? My teaching style is student-centered, interactive, and supportive. I focus on making math fun and accessible, encouraging questions, and fostering a collaborative learning environment where every student feels confident to participate.
Learning Goals
By the end of this class, students will be able to accurately calculate the area and perimeter of squares, rectangles, and triangles, apply these calculations to solve real-life problems, and demonstrate a clear understanding of the practical importance of these mathematical concepts.
