Math masters is an ongoing 1 to 1 tutoring course that will provide students with the foundational skills to master grade-level skills. The maximum of students in this class will be 1 so that I can provide individualized support. This tutoring session will focus on increasing students' procedural accuracy, conceptual understanding, and mathematical reasoning in the areas of computation, number sense, geometry, measurement, data analysis, and algebraic thinking. Although the goals of this session are standards based, students will engage in interactive presentations, live time responses and feedback using interactive slides, and math games. The tutoring session will start with a short pre-assessment so that I can determine where we should focus on bridging learning gaps, supporting learning, and enriching student achievement. After the pre-assessment, I will design a program specific to your student. As a way for parents to keep tract of their students' progress, I will send weekly updates after each learning session. NOTE: This class provides math tutoring needs for students who need help from K- 5th grade state standards. Students who are beyond 5th grade, can still receive tutoring within those skill parameters. In addition, I provide tutoring for students who are identified or suspected to have Dyscalculia. Dyscalculia is a newer term in the field of education so many parents may be unaware of the challenges. Students with Dyscalculia have difficulty in the following areas: Have difficulty recognizing numbers Be delayed in learning to count Problems with connecting numerical symbols (5) with their corresponding words (five) Have difficulty recognizing patterns and placing things in order Lose track when counting Need to use visual aids — like fingers — to help count I have devised a program based on my training and experience that will help students to progress despite their learning difficulties. I use a range of evidence-based methods such as touch point, visual and imagery, fact family drills and concepts, using estimation to guide reasoning, mathematical language and world problem comprehension. I also create custom presentations and games that will keep students engaged while learning. Learning outline: Approximately 50 min of Activities 1. Warm-up 2. Lesson lecture 3. Guided Practice with teacher 4. Independent practice activity (post- class) ****Students will receive a link to complete the independent practice. Students will receive feedback in the next class over independent practice. I hope to see your student soon!
