Class Experience

Does statistics seem hard, scary, or boring? Does solving a stats problems seem more like a magic trick than a math problem? If so, this class is perfect for you! Explore the exciting world of statistics with me in a fun and collaborative environment.

In class one we will define statistics and talk about sampling. We will discuss what makes a good sample, and what we should keep in mind when gathering data.

In class two we will focus on percentages. We will learn how to calculate percentages and use these numbers to predict outcomes.

In class three we will use pie charts to graph percentage data while reviewing how to calculate and find percents.

In class four we will talk about ratios. We will practice identifying and writing ratios from both pictures and word problems.

In class five we will use ratios to predict outcomes. Together, we will learn how to use a ratio to calculate different scenarios. 

In class six we will use ratios to create t-tables and examine how we can use these to help us solve problems. 

In class seven we will complete a series of ratio and percentage based word problems.

In class eight we will complete a fun exercise using all of the skills we acquired throughout the course! Students will be able to grade their own work to provide a self assessment.

My classroom is always a fun and welcoming environment. Students will be encouraged to be active participants.
