Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
I offer tutoring sessions for students who are struggling in middle school and high school math including 6th & 7th grade math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Precalculus. I help students by giving them strategies for approaching problems. I find that students' confidence levels rise when they have true understanding of a concept and are given a step by step approach of finding the answer. Sometimes lack of confidence is the main deterrent for success in math. I love seeing the lightbulb come on for students who have always believed that they were "bad at math". I believe that everyone can be successful in math.

I offer homework help and/or can work many example problems giving the student opportunity to ask questions throughout. Students will then have the chance to work problems with the teachers assistance (if necessary).

IF YOU DO NOT SEE A SESSION ON MY SCHEDULE THAT WORKS FOR YOUR STUDENT, PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE.

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Alabama at Birmingham
I am a middle school and high school math tutor. I help students with 6th, 7th and 8th grade math, PreAlgebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and PreCalculus. I have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I have homeschooled my four children over the last 19 years and have three children who have graduated from college and a 10th grader. I've taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Math Models, Physics, 4-H and study skills at a private school and homeschool co-op. I've also coached middle school and high school FTC Robotics teams. I was a Veterinary Science project leader and club manager in 4-H for 4 years.

I have a passion for helping kids discover the love of learning. My speciality is helping kids who have traditionally struggled with math find their inner math genius. I accomplish this by introducing them to strategies that help all the puzzle pieces fit together for them. I've discovered that once a student discovers that they can understand math concepts, they end up being successful through out the rest of their school career. It makes me giddy to see the lightbulb come on for kids who have truly believed that they aren't good at math. I believe that everyone can be good at math.

I love spending time with my family. We enjoy going on adventures to the beach, the mountains or wherever life takes us. I enjoy teaching online because it allows me the flexibility to be there for my family when they need me. I hope to see you in my next class!!
